Dawn Beach · Oyster Pond · Sint Maarten
Built for the windward coast
Dawn Beach and Oyster Pond face the open Atlantic — the trade winds arrive loaded with salt and never really stop. It is the harshest environment for outdoor structures on the island, and the clearest case for aluminium.

The most corrosive address on Sint Maarten
On the windward side, salt spray is not an occasional event; it is the daily weather. Mild steel rusts through in a couple of seasons, timber grey-washes and rots, and even good hardwoods demand a maintenance rhythm few owners can keep from overseas.
This is where material choice stops being a style question. Aluminium does not rust — full stop — and our profiles carry Qualicoat-certified powder coating with stainless steel fixings. After a storm, the maintenance is a rinse.

Specify for the exposure, not the brochure
For pergolas on this coast we usually point clients to the Premium range, certified for winds of 180 to 220 km/h, rather than upselling by default: the exposure genuinely warrants it, and we put the certified figure on the quote. Facing Saint-Barthélemy across the channel, glass railings keep the horizon where it belongs.
- Premium pergola structures — reinforced profiles, wind-certified 180–220 km/h — as the default recommendation here
- AERIS full-height glass railings: aluminium and glass both shrug off spray that destroys steel
- Deck boards in light Qualicoat shades that limit heat build-up in full sun
- Every quote states the wind certification, the lead time and the shipping to the villa — in writing
How pricing works
One final figure, in writing
Our rate card is the same across the Caribbean: decking 450–550 € per m² installed, pergola structures 550–650 € per m², railings from 255 € per linear metre — as French West Indies reference prices. Because Sint Maarten sits outside the French legal and tax framework, shipping, customs clearance and any local taxes are additional and itemised on your quote, and the warranty terms applying to your project are stated in writing before you commit.
We are a French West Indies manufacturer — workshops in Saint-François (Guadeloupe) and Les Trois-Îlets (Martinique) — not a local Sint Maarten office, and we would rather say so plainly. What you get is made-to-measure manufacturing, installation, and every cost on paper before you decide.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which pergola range do I need at Dawn Beach?
On this coast we usually recommend the Premium range, wind-certified 180–220 km/h, because the exposure genuinely calls for it. We confirm after assessing your site — and the certified figure for your configuration is stated on your quote.
Will glass railings survive the salt spray?
Glass and aluminium are both unaffected by salt, which is why AERIS suits this coast. The critical detail is the fixings — ours are stainless steel throughout, because the fixing is what fails first on a windward installation.
How do lead times work for Oyster Pond?
Manufacturing in our Guadeloupe or Martinique workshops takes 7 to 45 days depending on scope, plus shipping to Sint Maarten. The full schedule, freight and any local taxes are itemised on your written quote before you commit.
