GT MAT awning with charcoal fabric and LED lighting built into the arms, on a villa façade

Option

LED lighting
built into the arms.

LED strips housed in the awning arms light the terrace at nightfall: no extra lamp, no visible cable. The terrace keeps living after sunset.

GT MAT awning closed in its full cassette, with an LED strip, on a building façade

The full cassette

Closed,
it disappears into its cassette.

Retracted, the awning folds away entirely into its cassette: fabric and arms are sheltered from rain, dust and sun, and the façade stays clean. With the LED option, a thin line of light underlines the cassette.

The fabric — Sauleda Masacril

Sauleda fabric,
made in Spain.

Our awnings come with Masacril fabric from the Spanish manufacturer Sauleda: a 100% solution-dyed acrylic. The colour is in the fibre, not on the surface — which is why it holds up well outdoors.

Awnings in the Caribbean

How to get the best out of it

Wind: retract it

An awning is extended in calm weather and retracted as soon as the wind picks up. During a strong-wind or hurricane warning it stays closed: the full cassette then protects the fabric and arms.

Rain: the gutter helps

The front bar has a built-in gutter that channels the water of a passing shower. After rain, let the fabric dry before closing the cassette.

Orientation: face west

An awning does the most on a west- or south-west-facing terrace: it cuts the low afternoon sun, right when you live outdoors.

Installation: a solid wall

The awning is fixed to a wall, lintel or roof overhang able to take its loads. The site visit checks the support and the fixing height before the final quote.

No awning is meant to stay open in strong wind: retract it as soon as the wind picks up, and keep it closed in its cassette during a hurricane warning. For a fixed shelter that stays in place, choose a bioclimatic pergola.
